Dwight Turner: Decolonising Psyche Through Dreams SATURDAY WORKSHOP
Decolonisation involves more than the toppling of statues and ridding ourselves of systemic practices (patriarchal, racist, gender). How has colonisation impacted upon ourselves, on an unconscious level: in our psyche and dreamscapes? Practitioners and all explorers welcome.

Dr Dwight Turner: Decolonising the Psyche Through Dreams
Decolonisation is a term which is often used in common parlance in the modern day and age. The assumption with decolonisation is that it merely involves the toppling of statues, the ridding ourselves of systemic practices be they through a patriarchal, racial or capitalist lens and that we need to consider how adaptive we have all become within the systems of supremacy.
One area that needs deeper consideration is actually through the lens of the psyche and this afternoon will offer the chance for practitioners and explorers to reach through their own dreamscapes to start to understand just how colonisation has impacted on upon ourselves at an unconscious level.
The afternoon will begin with a brief presentation about some of the themes, followed by a demonstration about active imagination, whereby I, Dr Dwight Turner, will be inviting a member of the audience to explore their own dream through techniques developed by Carl Jung and using the imagination. This is to help us to understand just how deep the sense of colonisation actually goes into the psyche. Following on from this demonstration, participants will have the chance, in small groups, to explore their own dreams either by using free association or active imagination before we actually come back together as a larger group to expand upon our experiences during the afternoon.
